My journey to become a Full Stack Developer

My goals for June after 2 weeks.

June 15, 2020, 7:27 p.m.

It's the middle of the month. So I've decided to make a small summary of my June goals.
It will be short because I don't have anything to brag about.

1. Algorithms.

What I've done so far.
It took me only four days to stop reading about algorithms or trying to solve puzzles. I've started solving problems on exercism and hit the wall - object-oriented programming problem. I even started learning OOP but than decided that I don't have time for everything.
If it's about classical algorithms, I posted an article about Bubble Sort Algorithm and read about Selection Sort algorithms and even started making notes for a blog post but then started doing something else. As always.

What I'm planning to do.
I want to write a blog post about Selection Sort algorithm and then continue reading the book.

2. Django project.

What I've done so far.
I don't know why but I couldn't make simple things work in the Travel App project. One of my twitter friends advised me to start building from scratch an application I've already done. So I started creating a blog app. I was adding a new layout I created a few months ago, but the more I look at it, the more I don't like it. I haven't finished recreating the app when I remember about a book I bought some time ago.
So I started reading "Mastering Django" by Nigel George, and I think it's the best book about Django I have read so far. Today I got an email that the final version is ready and I'm going to print it out to have it on my desk whenever I am working on Django project.
So I'm making some progress with Django but not with the Travel App.

What I'm planning to do.
I'm going to continue reading the book, and I think I will be rewriting my blog app one more time. I want a new layout. I want to combine it with my portfolio. I think I will get rid of the comments section. No one is commenting there, and most of my interactions with others are on twitter.

3. Vanilla JavaScript project.

What I've done so far.
As I wrote two weeks ago, I'm taking part in another Chingu Voyage. My partner in crime wanted to build something using external API, and because we both are not native English speakers, we decided to create a language app using Wordnik API. So far, I've built the layout using Sass and started creating a dictionary. We are supposed to use classes in JavaScript, but as I have no idea about OOP in JavaScript (even less idea than about OOP in Python) I started my part with functions, and I'm going to refactor my code later on.

What I'm planning to do.
My plan is to work more on the layout. To tell the truth, the page is a bit dull at the moment. I'd like to add some cool effects, some animations but I'm not sure what exactly I would like to do.

4. Angular.

What I've done so far.
I haven't spent a minute on Angular in June.

What I'm planning to do.
Not sure.

5. Zeton project

What I've done so far.
So I've made two small changes to this project so far.

What I'm planning to do.
On June 26, my team and I are taking part in an online hackathon with our project.. It will be my first one.

My other goals

were connected with watching two Udemy courses and reading two books. But because I'm reading "Mastering Django" I don't have much time and interest in those other courses/books at the moment.

But I'd like to learn to make better notes. I have a bunch of notebooks, but I've been treating note-taking as a method of better understanding things I'm currently learning, and I usually don't look at my notes after creating them. Now it's time to start taking more organized digital notes.

This month I've also published a blog post about creating a small icons/buttons as a first part of  How to creat a popup box. And I definitely want to write and publishe the second one or even the third.

Stay healthy.
